Refuge4All is a group of five families - 10 adults and 10 kids
We have chosen to sponsor family of seven: a mother, a father, and their three sons (16, 12 and 7) and two daughters (11 and 4). They are a Congolese family who have been living in a refugee camp in Tanzania for 15+ years. The family has been assigned to us by the international relief agency Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), from a list processed by Citizenship and Immigration and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Our five families have pooled together $25,000. Our plan is to raise at least another $25,000 to help this family achieve independence within 12 to 18 months of their arrival here in Calgary. These funds will cover housing, furniture and housewares, utilities, food, clothing, transportation, language/employment training, interpreters, childcare, medical, recreational and cultural needs.
